Resource Management
Adequate and efficient resource management is of crucial importance in today’s business. Many companies or organizations have more than one physical location (globalization) and are, due to the different time zones and continuous services, operational for 24 hours a day all year round.
Next to that coworkers nowadays want flexibility in their working hours/ shifts or part-time jobs, as well as being able to work out of the office. Flexibility in taking one’s vacation period is also an accepted feature now. Various shifts (i.e. ‘on call’) and compensation should be assigned and balanced without any flaws taking the coworker preferences into account. For your company or organization if not yet now then this will definitely have to be resolved in the near future.

The Show must go on
One of the most daring components in today’s business operations is the almost continuous change and the need to stay on top of it. One does not react but anticipates. This demands that all business (sub) processes can be managed and controlled simply and on a short term basis.
Examples are changes in legal requirements or structural adaptations in planning policies and strategies. All this needs to be implemented directly. DERM offers this functionality through the use of templates and redefining business rules (i.e. new ARBO regulations) or if necessary by programming. Thereby we guarantee (future) support for all accepted resource management functionality and beyond.

Realization versus planning
Examples here are unforeseen circumstances or calamities. Registration and reporting of the necessary ad hoc mutations are essential for future management decisions.
For the present time-span (week view) a mutation-sheet is available where one can see instantaneously how things are actually going: conform the planning, any exceptions or escalations etc. If immediate adaptations are necessary then it is of utmost importance to have a validated (up-to-date) overview of alternative available expertise. Better yet an online tool to adjust the production planning and have the corrections available to everyone involved, no matter where they are at that moment. An optional realization plug-in enables the administrator to correct all aspects of the planning in the past.

Reorganization, new task assignments
Reorganizing to another location - permanently or temporarily - or new or extending task assignments regarding the resources should be simply entered into the resource management system and validated for the appropriate sub-domains.

Interactive management
Dynamic Resource management is a two-way interactive process. It is not only implemented and controlled by the central administration but clients are able to request for certain activities on specific times and locations.
Restrictions and guidelines on the request protocol can be defined and adjusted. Requests have various states: awaiting processing, accepted and rejected. Depending on the planning rules regarding the ‘production’, they are processed according to minimum required presence of expertise, guaranteeing medical sufficiency, reoccurring tasks etc. A minimal request time in advance can be set in order to facilitate a responsible planning.
Multiple administrators are supported. The chief administration here delegates specific subtasks (i.e. education or on-call planning) of the resource management to assistant-administrators who manage their particular subdomain.
There are various ways (i.e. batch ‘select and accept) to accept the subplanners work. Optional is rollback functionality to undo importing/ merging the subplanners data.

Enterprise scope
The resource management operates on or if necessary spans divisions, cooperation structures and specialist or coworkers teams. The IOP system is available coporate-wide and also globally accessible through TCP/IP.
The client applications do not need any installation. Just download and they are ‘up & running’. Only business functionality and processes limit the context of your information management. The information flow does not burden from physical, logistic or divisional bounderies.

Resource database
All imaginable resources with their specific attributes may be defined within the application and stored into the resource base(s) and can be manipulated or retrieved with the use of compiled queries.
Data entry and consistency (through the use of templates and picklists instead of typing) is optimized.
‘One action only’(OAO) planning of huge quantities of data and on a long term basis is supported through ‘multiple or shift select’ and edit mode. Search functionality on any combination of parameters (given the condition …) is available.
Changes in the resource database are automatically and instantly reflected in all views. Defining and planning of future resources while not yet available is also supported.
Through the use of the Open DataBase Connectivity (ODBC) protocol various other extentions are also relatively easy to realize.

Operational Management
Relocations of resources and multiple activities (also when only temporarily) may be entered and are explicitly visible.
This ensures a complete insight how and where resources are used and if ad hoc mutations were in order. Thus revealing any possible structural problems in repetitive situations.
Cumulative (customizable) overviews support in the decision making when handling requests or planning activities.
Optional is an On Line Analysis Processing (OLAP) plug-in for extensive management reporting issues.
Distribution in time is available for support on guaranteeing medical completeness of the various specialisms or as background information for accepting requests or planning and tuning of other hospital activities i.e. policlinic sessions. All this results in a better coordination between (inter)dependencies and increases the quality of the production process significantly.

Asset Management
Asset management may be implemented either by integrating our IOP platform with your already operational asset management software or by developing and implementing your specific needs into the IOP platform through dedicated modules.

PreMaintenance Management
PreMaintenance management is optionally available through customized modules specific for the particular assets and their requirements involved (i.e. FPSO).

Business as usual
When implementing new ICT systems it is of major importance that coworkers will not be burdened by a steep learning curve and forced labor concerning extra non primary tasks. Nevertheless introducing any new system always implies substantial change management.
In order to achieve overall success the company needs to establish in advance a firm supportlevel from their coworkers and actual production results with the platform pilot-project.
